C.I.D.E.R. Membership Campaign

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

C.I.D.E.R. is a membership organization by bylaw and is currently in the middle of its annual membership campaign.  Membership affords individuals a chance to shop early Friday evening at the annual Book and Bake Sale, make early bids on silent auction items at the same sale and also have the knowledge that you are a “Card Carrying” supporter of C.I.D.E.R.

We rely heavily on donations from our two fund drives – the Membership Drive in August and the Annual “Love Your Neighbor” Fund Drive,  in February.  The annual cost of being a member of C.I.D.E.R. is only $2.00 per household however, as you can imagine, the average individual donation is more.  Please consider becoming a member of C.I.D.E.R. if you are not already or renewing your membership for another year.  The first 200 respondents to this campaign will receive one free ticket for the quilt that was made by Nicole Cahlandar.  HPIM1810

Good luck on the raffle and Thank You.

The Two New Vans

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

C.I.D.E.R. took possession of the two smaller Dodge Grand Caravan vans right at the end of last year.  They are equipped with a wheelchair ramp and all the necessary tie-downs for transporting a non-ambulatory client.  They were immediately put into service and have shown that they, along with the Chevrolet HHR, will end up saving C.I.D.E.R. hundreds (if not thousands) of gallons of gasoline over their life.  The following chart shows the percent of mileage done by each vehicle in our fleet during a month.

percent chart

Percent Monthly Mileage by Vehicle

You can see that we added the HHR to our fleet in January of 2008.  During the first year of its use the percent of total miles put on that vehicle rose to about 20%.  It increase to almost 30% by the end of 2009.  The two Dodge vehicles were added in January of 2010.  Together, with the HHR, those three vehicles now account for more than 55% of the total miles per month.  Many of the trips C.I.D.E.R. does are for one client in a wheelchair.  These can be accomplished more easily and more economically in one of the new Dodges.
